الأرض الأم

Motherland, or ‘Mayernik’ in Armenian, is a digital animation by Armenian visual artist and designer Nvard Yerkanian. Disenchanted by the term ‘Fatherland’, how one would address one’s own country in Armenian, Nvard Yerkanian turns the iconic statues of the abandoned maternity hospital in Yerevan into a nightmarish sanguine digital sculpture. Reflecting on a history of political violence performed directly and by proxy over Armenian bodies, Nvard attempts to untangle patriarchy and colonialism from nation founding narratives. Originally created for the performance of theatre maker Samvel Tadevossian, this powerful digital collectible takes a gender reading over the notion of a homeland at times of war.

 الأرض الأم هو رسم متحرك رقمي للفنانة والمصممة البصرية الارمينية نفارد يركانيان. يستكشف العمل كيف يمكن للمرء أن يخاطب وطنه باللغة الأرمينية. يحول التماثيل الشهيرة لمستشفى الولادة المهجور في يريفان إلى تمثال رقمي مغطي بالدماء. بالتفكير في تاريخ  العنف السياسي الذي تم إجراؤه بشكل مباشر وبالوكالة على الأجساد الأرمنية، يحاول العمل الفني فك الارتباط بين النظام الأبوي والاستعمار في الروايات التأسيسية للأمة. عمل رقمي فريد، ينظر الي فكرة الوطن في ظل الحروب
